I found
the world
can fit
into a
whiskey bottle
and briefly
there is
only myself
and nothing
the mistakes
are gone
the wounds
quickly heal
and I
will not
cry again
until morning

I’m beginning
to think
that satan
is my
spirit animal
his number
keeps calling
on my
cellular phone
I don’t
know what
that means
but it
isn’t frightening
I am
a child
of good
and evil
that believes
in not
a god
but myself

she worried
I would
leave her
it made
her cry
some days
and then
she met
a man
she could
love more
than me
and did
not seem
to worry
about leaving
me behind

I make
an ass
of myself
to impress
other people
and I
hate that
but I
don’t see
myself stopping

I do not
believe in you
the prayers
are never
answered
hank williams
has done
more for me
then I discovered
you were
never real
the only god
there could
ever be
is the one
I invented
for me

I can pretend
to be myself
though I’ve become
a different person
a change occurred
when stars collided
and sent me
into the darkness

salt tears
country music
red cigarettes
jack daniels
jim beam
and anything
else that
spells lonesome

she left
for space
because I
had become
too alien
